The Arabic novel has diversified since its inception, according to its topics and interests, between sociology, romance, politics, etc. including: the novel that takes history as a stage for its events, so it tells in a literary form the stories of ancient history, in a style that mixes the historical truth with narrative fiction.
And if we take a glance at the historical novels in Arabic, we will find that the Arab novelists dealt with the different historical eras, kingdoms and states that rose and reached their peak, then vanished and collapsed, whether in the Arab world, or in the East in general, or even the history of the West and its countries, as was the case of the Prophet’s biography, The history of His Companions is a wide range of these historical narratives.
Several names of Arab novelists emerged in the field of writing the historical novel, including Ali Ahmed Ba kathir, Mahmoud Farid Abu Hadid, Georgi Zaidan, Abdel Hamid Jawdat Al-Sahar, and others.
Among the Arab novelists who authored the historical novel: Amin Maalouf, who wrote in both languages: Arabic and French.
