Abstract

If eloquence is defined in simple words, we would say that arranging different styles in speech is called eloquence, and eloquence is an art by which the speaker can convey his message to the audience more effectively.

No doubt that the speech of the Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) was very wise and adorned with eloquent styles, because Allah made him the most eloquent of all mankind.

Among the greatest things that astonish the minds of the qualities of his perfection is the characteristic of his eloquence and persuasiveness that appears to us through reading his honorable hadith, and we must also thankful to Arabic linguists who reveal the secrets of rhetoric in the hadith of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).

When we look at the traces in the books of hadiths, we find that this eloquence of the Holy Prophet was present to a large extent in the Companions who received blessings from the Prophet and the followers after them. This is the reason why, when talking about the styles of eloquence in the Arabic prose samples, the sermons of the Prophet (PBUH) and of His Companions are kept at the top of the list.

There is no doubt that the Messenger of Allah, always uttered eloquence and wisdom, and Allah gave him the highest of what humans can reach in terms of eloquence and good articulateness. We see that speech, if delivered with wisdom in an eloquent manner, is faster to reach the hearts than speech that is not eloquent.

In this short article, we will talk about the styles of command, prohibition and intercession found in one of the books of hadith, Mustadrak al-Hakim, and here by Hadith we mean not only the words, actions or speeches of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), but there are also those signs found in Mustadrak Al Hakim which are related to one of the Companions or the followers.

In view of the briefness of this paper, we have chosen only three types of rhetoric; What is special about Amr, Nahi and Istifham, which we have divided into three successive discussions after the Preface and the Introduction.
