Motivation Elements for teaching Arabic to non native speakers

Abstract

There is no doubt that learning of Arabic language is very important for every Muslim to understand the Noble Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet in addition to the jurisprudence of Sharia matters, and issues related to beliefs. Knowing the Arabic language enables a Muslim to study legal aspects of Islam whereas ignorance stumbles a lot. Since this language has a unique important status, every Muslim must learn it and pay attention to it even on the price of his own mother tongue. There is no doubt that Arabic is very important language for Islamic Republic of Pakistan which strengthens it by itself and by the sister Islamic Arabic States under the umbrella of Islam. Despite the efforts made in this field, and with the multiplicity of tributaries of teaching Arabic language and its sciences in Pakistan, headed by the International Islamic University Islamabad, there are clear shortcomings in this field. These efforts have not yet resulted in the desired goal, as they face obstacles and challenges that require concerted effort. Encouragement and motivation are very important but officials and professors who are teaching Arabic should realize that they are teaching in a non-Arab country, and what works in terms of teaching methodology regarding Arabic in their homeland may not be suitable in countries that do not speak Arabic. The research will try to focus on elements of motivation in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, its effects and my experience as a teacher of Rhetoric at the International Islamic University Islamabad to some students from different colleges in order to understand the rhetoric of the Qur’an. This study tries to explore students desire to learn the language of Holy Quran.
